Acai Berry Scams

by admin on October 9, 2010

As with any new craze, and really, anything involving products that potentially contain health benefits, the recent excitement over the acai berry has led to a number of acai berry scams.

Now, a lot of people are saying that the acai berry is a “superfood.”

A fruit native to Central and South America, it was introduced to the American market a few years ago, and many scientists who have researched it have been blown away by the number of antioxidants it contains.

Antioxidants, of course, fight cancer cells effectively, and also help reduce risks of heart disease.

Moreover, the acai berry is also loaded with vitamins and minerals and other nutrients, and acai berry juice—it’s really only consumed in liquid form—is tasty to boot.

So while this is definitely a beneficial product to buy, you still have to be wary of frauds and cheats. One of the acai berry scams is an Internet-based one.

Some websites say they will send you free acai berry products, and all you have to pay for is shipping.  What they don’t tell you, and what’s buried in the tiny print somewhere deep in the contract, is that only the first shipment of products are free.

However, as you might expect with any of the acai berry scams, more products will be on their way and you’ll have to pay top dollar for those.

Another of the major acai berry scams isn’t aimed so much at people who want to drink acai juice; it’s aimed at those who want to make money by selling this juice, or investing in it.

As Bernie Madoff and many convicted felons have reminded us in the past, however, you really have to be careful where you invest your money, especially if it involves a “get rich quick” scheme.

Indeed, the Acai Berry pyramid scheme is one where you’re supposed to invest money so that you can make money off of newly-introduced acai berry products.

Of course, many of these acai berry scams involving pyramids offer you no chance of making any money, and only its organizers will profit.

Acai Berry 101

by admin on October 6, 2010

The acai berry is the latest food craze—and unlike many food crazes, this one’s actually good for you!  All kinds of people, from Oprah Winfrey to celebrity chefs, have been touting the benefits of this little berry, and increasingly, scientists, doctors and nutritionists are joining in with praise as well.

The acai berry grows on the huge, towering species known as the acai palm tree, found in Amazon rain forests, on the shorelines of Peru and Brazil, and in other spots in Central America and Southern America as well.  The acai berry is a close relative of the blueberry and the cranberry—in color, it looks kind of like a mixture of these two berries, in fact.

And it grows in large bunches, like bananas, and it consists of a layer of pulp that is edible, with a large seed underneath.  Even though this berry is edible, it is not recommended, should you ever visit Central or South America, that you eat the berries picked off the tree, however.

Instead, the real nutritional value of the acai berry comes when it is squeezed into juice.  (An interesting note: unless it is processed and preserved, this berry pretty much shrivels up and becomes no good almost immediately after it is plucked from a tree.)

Brazilians and other peoples in South America and Central America have been drinking acai juice, and making red wine out of it, for centuries now, but it’s only really become known to Americans in the past five years or so.  But what a discovery it has been.

This juice has many times more antioxidants than grape juice or most other fruit juices.  These antioxidants are powerful tools in helping the body fight cancer and heart disease, and they can also supply people with more energy as well.

Even more, the berry is jam-packed with vitamins, with minerals, with all kinds of nutrients that will help you to combat the devastating effects of growing old.  And this is just the beginning of what we know about this still-barely-researched fruit.  No doubt many more discoveries about the acai berry are on their way.
